My New Lego Room

9/29/22 - My new Lego room was finally finished and all set up by fall of last year. Here is the end result. This is by far my favorite room in the house! I love how it turned out and how functional it is. I have been building a lot more Lego because of it. I have plenty of space and lots of places to store boxed sets and completed sets. My son even has his only corner that he can enjoy! Yes, I did hog up most fo the space. LOL!

Here is my prior Lego room that was used in 2021. As you can see, the old space was much smaller.

Here is my space before I moved into my smaller Lego room. It just had storage more then anything else. At that time I didn't have a dedicted work space. It was in what we called our entrance/mud room.

ORGANIZATION - Post 2: New Lego Room 2022!

6/8/22 - It was a slow process as we had multiple rooms in our house remodeled, but we finally got there! My new Lego room came out great.

First, here are some pictures of my old Lego room, now our bird room! All the birds seem to really like this new space!

Now for the best part, here is my new Lego room complete with new paint and a new floor! I couldn't wait to fill this space!!

ORGANIZATION - Post 1: New Lego Room 2022!

4/15/22 - I shared my small Lego room that we set up in 2021. But I quickly realized that it was way to small for my needs. I own parrots and have a room designated for them that is way too large for what they need. So we decided we would move them into my current Lego room and we would convert their old room into my Lego Room. I was so excited to get this project started!. Here we show the bird room emptied out so renovations could begin on my new Lego Room! Woohoo!

ORGANIZATION - My New Lego Room 2021

1/15/22 - I set up a new Lego room in my house in 2021. It used to be a kitchen for my mom's in-law apartment we had for her in our house. Once she moved, we opened up the apartment so we could have the whole house back to just ourselves. But we never completely took her kitchen out. So I figured I would utilize it for my Lego space!

ORGANIZATION - How To Travel With Your Lego's

As I have talked about before, I like to take my Lego's with me and build them on vacation, on our boat, on the beach, camping, at home in my recliner and just about anywhere else! The possibilities are endless! Since most sets I work with are 1500 pieces or larger it was challenging coming up with an easy way to bring my builds with me.

This is the system I have come up with. I use the Lego bag pictured below. The 3 smaller bags that come with it hold my numbered set bags. Then off to the side I have 3 plastic bins for 3 different size Lego's nested in each other. My instructions go on top of the bins. I use a TV tray to build the set on. Any portion of the set that is complete stays on the tray. In the end, all I need to carry is my bag and my tray!

Here is a link to this bag at Target.com. I don't currently see it on Lego.com but they've been out of a lot of items lately!

ORGANIZATION - Creating A More Organized Lego Room

One of the biggest challenges I have found with having Lego's as a hobby is organizing them and keeping them from taking over my house! Here are some before and after photos of how I got my Lego "stuff" under control!

BEFORE - The below pictures show our "Entrance/Lego Room" area before I got it really organized. I did scrapbooking for many years but have gone to digital scrapbooking, so I cleaned out those cabinets in the bottom 2 pictures and got rid of most of what was in them to make room for Lego's!

AFTER - Here is the after photos! I love how this came out. The first photo is my new bins for my loose Lego's. I get most of my loose Lego's used. I took the time to sort a bunch by color. That won't be happening a lot because it takes FOREVER! But it's great to have about half these bins sorted by color then the other half just a mix. They are spread out enough that it's not too hard to find what I need.

This is now a great space for the kids to sit and work on Lego's. It's also our main place we display Lego builds I don't have at my shop.

Here are those cabinets all cleaned out and are now full of Lego's! :)

REVIEW - Lego 4 Piece Organizer Tote & Playmat

Lego 4 Piece Organizer Tote & Playmat ~  FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS!

Lego organizing tote opens up into a mat for easy play and comes with 3 separate bags that nest into the tote to store Legos in.

I received this bag as a Christmas gift in 2018 and I absolutely love it! I take my Legos with me everywhere and this bag makes it easy! I build larger sets so I store all the bags of pieces in the smaller bags. If I pull out one small bag my sorting trays can also fit in the bag. Although I don't use the mat I think it is a great addition! My kids are getting these bags for Valentine's Day this year and I know when we go on vacation, this will make clean up easy! You can pretty much take your Legos everywhere with this bag! The smaller bags that fit inside are great because you can use 1, 2 or 3. It's up to you. The smaller bags also have a clear top so you can see what is in it! If you need space for something else you can just take out one of the smaller bags.

The bag is durable, easy to keep clean and makes for easy clean up and travel! I give this bag a five out of five stars!
